General
- There is a bend in my staircase and it is also very narrow. Will I be able to fit in a stair lift?
- Narrow stairs, steep stairs, curved stairs …. Each staircase is different. That’s why an Otto Ooms stair lift is a custom made product, made to fit seamlessly in your staircase.
An Otto Ooms stair lift can fit into almost any staircase. Often, there will be different options to choose from.
If you want to be sure about your own staircase, you can make an appointment with us without any obligation.
- Will the stairs still be accessible for others?
- Yes. Otto Ooms has developed various stair lifts which all guarantee that the staircase remains accessible for others. The lift rail is often so small that you could compare it with a banister and as such leaves the access fully intact.
Sometimes, it will also be possible to have the rail fitted on the steep inside of the stairs.
- How long is the delivery time?
- Depending on the staircase and the model you choose, the delivery time will be between two and five weeks.
- Does the lift stop if the power fails?
- No. Thanks to the smart battery control and the built-in emergency program, the ride will always be completed. The lift can even be used for a couple of times after a mains power failure!
- How do the batteries recharge. And how long do the batteries last?
- The batteries are recharged automatically. As soon as the lift is parked, the batteries are automatically recharged. With normal use the batteries will last an average of five years.
- Do I need a separate group in the meter cupboard for the lift?
- No. A normal (unearthed) socket is all you need to connect the lift.
- Is there any grease on the lift?
- No. The lift is completely grease-free; the rail can even be used as a banister!
- At the top of my stairs there is a door / a passage. How do I get in and out?
- You can get in and out of the lift with the help of the swivel seat. When you are at the top of the stairs, all you have to do is turn the seat by a quarter turn and you can safely get in or out.
- At the bottom of my stairs there is a door / passage. How can I keep it free?
- The lift rail can be provided with a hinge rail, which can be folded upwards when the lift is not in use, so that their will be nothing obstructing a door or a passage.
- What should I do when I am at the bottom of the stairs and the lift is at the top?
- You can control the lift with the wireless remote control. These controls are located both at the top and at the bottom of the stairs. They come with the lift as standard.
Installation
- How long does it take to have it fitted in?

- Is there any complicated constructional work involved with the installation?
- No. The lift is neatly screwed down every three steps on the staircase using small supports. There is no other constructional work involved.
